(G3) processor, 32 MB of RAM, and a 5.0 GB hard drive in a black portable
case with a 12.1" color active-matrix display. This model also has
hot-swappable bays, a four-speaker system, and zoomed video support. The
PowerBook G3 (1st Gen.) broke new ground in what was expected from a portable

This model also has dual hot-swappable bays, a stereo speaker system, 2D/3D graphics acceleration, an "fn" key which creates a numerical keyboard, S-video output, and zoomed video support. The Apple Macintosh
PowerBook G3/500 "FW" (FireWire), codenamed Pismo, features a
500 MHz PowerPC 750 (G3) processor, 128 MB of RAM, a 12.0 GB hard drive,
and an ATI Rage Mobility 128 video controller with the same portable case
and 14.1" TFT color display of the "Bronze" PowerBook G3
(See FAQ). Although they share the same case, the PowerBook G3 "FW"
series uses a faster logic board design that includes AirPort support and
FireWire ports, but lacks a SCSI port. |
